Sustainability & Maintenance
We mitigate the challenge of building a long term and sustainable safe drinking water programme by engaging the local people. We believe that the most effective way is to empower the local people to maintain and sustain their health solutions on their own. With this goal in mind, we set up local committees for the purpose.

WATSAN Committee

To help people of the affected areas take responsibility of maintaining, funding and general policy decisions regarding the Arsenic Removal Units (ARUs), we set up a WATSAN committee with represenatives from the loca people. This idea is working wonderfully and we are experiencing that the local people are gradually becoming self sufficient in maintaining and running the plants.

How WATSAN works

  • Distribution of responsibilities among WATSAN committee members.
  • Appropriate and time to time training.
  • Monthly meetings.
  • Record keeping and Book keeping for proper financial accounting.
  • Timely collection of subscriptions from the beneficiaries.
