Ajit Sardar, aged 45 years lives with his family in Ghentugachhi Bagpara falls under Ghentugachhi Panchayat in Chakdah block of Nadia district. He was not conscious that he was a victim of arsenic. In course of time he became depressed to know the matter in a health checkup organized by BESUS. The doctor said that it should have been diagnosed when he was eight-year-old but prolonged exposure to arsenic laced water aggravated his symptoms. Previously it was thought of to be a 'skin infection' and he had undergone treatment in Chakdah General hospital and later he went to the city hospital at Kalyani. But the treatment did not show any improvement rather degradation. As a consequence he withdrew himself into a shell. Fortunately intervention by BESUS proved to be blessing for him. He got aware about his condition and found out the way to relief as there is only remedy to drink arsenic free water. According to doctor's report 60% of his problems have been cured now and the symptoms of arseniocosis have been lightened out. Now he has become an ideal person to the people of arsenic affected area. He played as a mover at the time of installation of ARU in his locality. Being treasurer of the committee still now he contributes his hard work as an active member of WATER committee.
